Wall Rebuild
An Ash tree affected by Ash Dieback was brought down during a storm, falling onto an oil tank and causing the root plate of a neighbouring Elm tree to lift. The movement of the root systems also resulted in significant damage to a granite boundary wall.
Our team safely dismantled and removed the fallen Ash tree from the oil tank before removing the structurally compromised Elm tree. Using specialist machinery, we then excavated the remaining Ash and Elm stumps to allow for the reconstruction of the damaged wall.
The granite wall was carefully rebuilt using original granite and stone recovered from the site, maintaining the character of the surrounding area. Finally, the remaining corner of the driveway was regraded and widened to improve access and usability.
Pine Removals
A commercial client commissioned the removal of three large Monterey Pine trees to facilitate the construction of a new access lane alongside an industrial unit extension. Due to their close proximity to the proposed development, removal was necessary to allow the project to proceed safely and efficiently.
Monterey Pines can often become a significant risk as they mature, particularly in commercial and urban environments where their size and weight pose potential hazards to nearby pedestrians, vehicles, and structures.
The project presented several challenges, including restricted access and the considerable height of the trees. Despite working during a heatwave, our team completed the works safely, efficiently, and ahead of schedule.
Garden Overhaul
This project was one of the largest and most complex we have undertaken to date, requiring the work to be carefully planned and completed in multiple stages.
The site consisted of a severely overgrown and neglected garden containing a tree-sized Griselinia, a fallen Pine tree, a 30-metre-long Euonymus hedge, extensive Ivy growth, and a large Apple tree, all of which required removal.
The next phase involved dismantling an existing wall to create access for excavation machinery, regrading a parking area, and removing multiple tree stumps. Following this, we demolished the wall that supported the Euonymus hedge and fully excavated the remaining root systems and foundations.
To prepare the site for landscaping works, we excavated and levelled a section of the sloped garden to form a new patio area, while also digging a trench for the installation of a retaining wall.
In the final stages of the project, we installed a new 30-metre boundary fence along the former hedge line, together with an additional 4-metre fence and gate adjacent to the parking area. The project concluded with the removal of a damaged shed and a collapsed wall, followed by the final grading and reshaping of the garden to tie seamlessly into the new retaining wall.
Macrocarpa Pruning and Deadwooding
We were commissioned to prune a large Macrocarpa tree to provide safe roof access for the installation of solar panels. As part of the works, we crown-lifted the tree, which also allowed us to carefully prune and reshape that side of the canopy to improve both clearance and appearance.
Due to the tree’s exposed location, it contained a significant amount of deadwood and several broken limbs caused by previous storm damage. Our team carried out extensive deadwood removal to improve the overall health and safety of the tree.
The reduction of dead and damaged material also helped to improve airflow through the canopy, reducing wind resistance and lessening the likelihood of future storm damage.
All works were completed safely and efficiently, with the site fully cleared and tidied by the end of the day.
